QUALIFICATIONS |

Any individual residing in the State of Louisiana is eligible to be nominated as a Board member. However, the chairperson and secretary must be parents of students currently enrolled in the Academy. |

Elections are held in May, the last day of the school year before the award ceremony. Individuals would serve as board members for a two-year term, two terms by default. The chairperson must step down after two terms, but may remain as a member. Others may also choose to remain. |

The Board consists of a chairperson, a secretary, and seven members. The president and vice president of the Parent Association and the school principal are automatically counted as three of the seven members. |

A board member would forfeit his/her membership after missing three consecutive board meetings without explanation, or upon resignation. |

The secretary should automatically become the chairperson after one year of service. A new secretary would be elected from and by the members of the Board. |

Amendments are to be voted on the Board meetings. Amendments thus passed shall be adopted as resolutions by the entire Board. |

Review and approval of candidates for faculty members, general logistics officer and financial officer(s) nominated by the principal |

Review and approval of the financial budget proposed, and the school’s handbook edited by the principal |

Forming Financial Committee. The Committee includes three members — the Board chairperson, secretary, and an executive financial officer. The president, vice president of the Parent Association and the School’s principal shall be excluded from this Committee. The executive financial officer should be appointed by the chairperson His or her duties include auditing School’s financial operation regularly and ensuring that the School maintains a healthy financial status. |

Reporting the state of the School to parents in annual meetings |

The chairperson calls board meetings regularly or as needed. Time and venue for the meetings shall be determined by the chairperson. A meeting notice shall be sent out to all members seven days in advance. The presence of more than five board members constitutes a quorum. |

Any resolution passed by majority of the Board should be regarded as the Board final resolution. |

The board members do not receive compensation. |
